The hard work doesn’t stop during the off-season for Peterborough United Foundation, with our Health & Wellbeing department continuing to deliver sessions in the local area on a weekly basis.

One of those sessions is our chair-based exercise session at the Hodgson Centre in Werrington – a session Joyce attends regularly. We caught up with Joyce to get her thoughts on the session and the positive impact it’s had on her.
Joyce said: “The Chair Based Exercise class is led by a friendly & welcoming instructor. The pace of exercise is suitable for all as you can do as much as suits you, a little less if aren’t as fit/mobile as others without feeling you are holding anyone else back.”
“And if you want to fit in a few more reps you can speed up without affecting the rest of the class members. Everyone is encouraged to go at their own pace.”
“Most of the exercises are ones you can do at home too if you wish to do exercise more than once week. No special equipment necessary, a stable chair is all you need at home, and you can be safe and secure, no worries about falling or not being able to get off of the floor.”
“We are pleased to have found this particular class as it is definitely ‘chair based’. We had attended another class which encouraged people to get up out of the chair to do a lot of the exercises and found that this method put stress on the less able attendees as they felt they should do the exercises standing too, even if it wasn’t really suitable for them.”
Peterborough United Foundation’s Chair-Based Exercise session at the Hodgson Centre in Werrington takes place every Tuesday, 1pm – 2pm. Sessions are £3 per session, with your first session free of charge.
We also over Chair-Based Exercise in various other locations in addition to Yoga, Walking Football and much more.
