Peterborough United Foundation were delighted to learn that our Youth Employment Hub has been nominated for the 2026 Partnership of the Year, Staff Award.
Taking place in the Engine Shed at Sand Martin House on Thursday 14th May, it is a great achievement and a testament to our team’s hard work, dedication, and excellence.
The purpose of the Hub is not only to give young people the support they need to find work, training and education, but also offer advice on housing, finances, mental health support and much more, as the young people of today take the next steps in their lives after secondary school.
The Hub is open Monday – Thursday, 10am – 4pm, and Peterborough United Foundation will be working with various partners to offer a wide range of support under one roof.
Our nomination read:
I would like to nominate Dean Watson and Alicia Green at the Youth Employment Hub. Since it opened in Nov 2025 to the beginning of March the Hub welcomed 73 young people through the door and Dean and Alicia are providing intensive support to 37 young people to help them move forward into education, employment and training. They have created a space where young people feel comfortable dropping in and asking for support. Through partnership working with the job centre, UC claimants can now meet with their Work Coach in the Hub which provides a younger person friendly environment. Mental health advice is available at the Hub also. Dean has been working with the wider Posh Foundation and outside organisations to arrange training and information days (e.g. Game Plan – confidence building, budgeting, future planning). The Hub has set up a Teams channel to bring together education/training providers, giving them a platform to share their courses and opportunities in one place with support services. Having the Hub available to the young people we work with in the Education, Employment and Training Team has been very beneficial, not only for all the support they are offering above but also because it offers a place for us to meet the young people we are supporting in person. The EET Team will be offering a weekly drop in there soon. We’re very excited to see how the Hub will continue to develop and grow, providing a fantastic offer to the young people of Peterborough and Cambridgeshire.
Dean Watson, Youth Hub Manager at Peterborough United Foundation, said: “We are really proud to see the Youth Employment Hub nominated for this award. It is a reflection of the hard work and commitment shown by everyone involved, and of the strong partnerships that have helped the Hub develop since opening. Our focus has always been on creating a welcoming and supportive space where young people feel comfortable accessing the help they need, whether that’s with employment, education, training or wider life support. We’re pleased with the progress so far and look forward to continuing to grow the Hub’s offer for young people across Peterborough and Cambridgeshire.”
