A pair of wins by the same scoreline this week as the Posh Boys CEFA team went to Stevenage, whilst the Girls NFYL team made the trip to Charlton.
POSH GIRLS NFYL
The Posh Girls NFYL team have enjoyed an upturn in form of late, with three wins and a draw from their last four matches, including a big friendly win over local rivals Northampton Town during half term.
They went to Charlton knowing a win could take them up a place in the league, as they continue to look upwards rather than over their shoulders at the bottom half of the league.
They didn’t get off to the best of starts, however, as Charlton took an early lead with a close-range header from a corner.
From there, the game had a more end-to-end feel, with Posh creating a good opening when Maddie Parry found Tori Moisey out wide, but after a dangerous cross, no one could quite get on the end of it.
Poppy Rees was then called into action to smother a potential one-on-one, before making a great save on a shot from distance.
The Addicks doubled their advantage before the break when their forward ran through the middle of the pitch and fired into the roof of the net.
But Posh went into half time only a goal behind, courtesy of a goal from Antonina SUCH, which saw her take a pass from Georgie Oliver and slot into the bottom corner.
Buoyed by their late goal, Posh started the second half well and almost drew level when Phoebe Cooper’s searching diagonal almost found Such.
They did get the equaliser just shy of the hour mark, when Oliver won the ball out wide and drove towards goal before picking out Lola COOK, who calmly found the corner of the net.
Late goals have been a regular feature for the Posh Girls FEP teams of late and they needed another one if they were going to get all three points out of this one. Such went close yet again, this time on a dangerous ball in from Ivy Lane.
The clock ticked over to 90 minutes and Posh did it again – with SUCH slotting away one-on-one with the goalkeeper after a flick on from Milena Jasiolek to ensure all three points would be returning to Peterborough.
FINAL SCORE: Charlton Athletic 2-3 Posh NFYL
Posh XI: Rees (GK), Cooper, Biggadike, Pilling (C), Edwards, Parry, Oliver, Moisey, Coloma, Cook, Such
Subs: Krajewska, Jasiolek, Lane

POSH BOYS CEFA
After a tough start to life in their debut season in CEFA South East 1, the Posh CEFA team have found their feet and moved into mid-table with games in hand. This week, they went to Stevenage, a side the FEP recently faced over in Holland during the Easter Open success for Posh.
They created the game’s first good chance when Harrison Jones found space out wide and delivered a cross to the back post, which just evaded Freddie Hooke’s reach.
Stevenage showed signs of danger, though, as they went close to capitalising on a Posh mistake with an effort from the edge of the box which flew just wide.
Charlie Wright then dragged a shot just wide, before Alfie Bird was called into action to make two good saves and keep the game scoreless.
Posh did take the lead before half time as Charlie WRIGHT found the back of the net, finishing off a rebound after Jack Sutton’s initial effort had been blocked.
The goal gave them confidence and they started the second half well, Hooke going close again with a long-range effort which tested the keeper.
HOOKE did grab his goal moments later when Jack Maltby-Smith’s effort was blocked into his path, allowing him to send the ball into the net.
Stevenage didn’t give up, though, and got back within one with a strike into the far corner from just inside the box.
And after narrowly missing with a wide free kick, the home side drew level when they made the most of some miscommunication at the back for Posh, resulting in a simple tap in.
But Posh went straight back up the other end and retook the lead as HOOKE notched his second, when he pounced on a slip from the goalkeeper to score into the empty net.
Zak Wild and Alfie Grimwood both had chances to put the game beyond doubt in the closing stages but the former put his header just over, whilst the latter saw his shot saved from close-range.
FINAL SCORE: Stevenage 2-3 Posh CEFA
Posh XI: Bird (GK), Hill, Rawlings, Waterland (C), Mortell, Drought, Jones, Maltby-Smith, Wright, Hooke, Sutton
Subs: Lazar, Wild, Spencer, Watkins, Grimwood
