Peterborough United Foundation is proud to announce the signing of the Armed Forces Covenant, reaffirming its commitment to supporting service personnel, veterans, and their families.
This landmark event marks the beginning of an exciting partnership between the Armed Forces community and Peterborough United Foundation, highlighting the club’s dedication to creating opportunities and providing support for those who serve or have served in the military.
Gill Wignall, CEO of Peterborough United Foundation, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative:
“We are incredibly proud to strengthen our commitment to the Armed Forces community through this new partnership and the signing of the Armed Forces Covenant. At Peterborough United Foundation, we believe in the power of football to bring people together, and this initiative reaffirms our dedication to supporting service personnel, veterans, and their families. We look forward to working closely with the Armed Forces community to create meaningful opportunities and lasting impact.”
Jamie Jones, Chair of Trustees at Peterborough United Foundation, also highlighted the significance of the partnership:
“Everything we do at the Foundation has people in mind, and our partnership with the Armed Forces is in keeping with that thinking and something to be celebrated and promoted. We look forward to continuing this work with the Armed Forces for many years to come.”
Cllr Jason McNally, Armed Forces Champion for Peterborough, acknowledged the Foundation’s commitment:
“We are delighted that the Foundation are signing the Armed Forces Covenant and providing 40 tickets for local Armed Forces Community members to the Posh vs Birmingham game was a generous and thoughtful mark of appreciation.”
Representatives from both the Armed Forces and Peterborough United Foundation came together to formalise the pledge.
This partnership aims to foster a supportive environment for current and former military personnel, ensuring they have access to resources, opportunities, and engagement within the local community through the Foundation’s initiatives.
Additionally, efforts are underway to encourage other organisations to sign up to the Armed Forces Covenant. In further celebration of the Armed Forces, plans are in place for a Family Fun Day on June 21 and a civic ceremony on June 28, which we hope will be a fitting tribute to our service personnel and their families.
