Peterborough United Foundation are excited to welcome Kelowna United for a showcase game against a team of our Girls Elite and Scholarship players!
The Kelowna United U15 Girls High Performance team are spending their Spring Break in Peterborough, training at the idverde Training Ground. They are the first Kelowna United team to travel to the UK to train at the Posh as part of Peterborough United’s International Partnership Programme. The girls will train with Academy staff in Peterborough for a week and play two friendly matches, one of which is against ourselves!
We’ve put together a squad of girls featuring a mixture of our U15 and U16 Elite squads, accompanied by a number of our first year scholars.
Women & Girls Manager, Georgia Clarke, said: “We’re really looking forward to the fixture against Kelowna United tomorrow evening. It’s a great opportunity for our girls to play against an opponent that they have never come across before. It will be interesting to see the potential differences between the style of play with the two sides coming from different countries.
“Our U16s Elite have progressed well this season under the guidance of lead coach, Liam Parish and have impressed in all their fixtures so far so hopefully they will continue in this form. Several of the players are looking to join the U19 Scholarship Programme next season so from a personal point of view, I’m keen for them to show what they are capable of.
“I think it will be a great showcase for Girls Football and how the game is growing as well as hopefully a competitive fixture.” Georgia concluded.
The game will take place at the idverde Training Ground on Wednesday 22nd March, kicking off at 6pm.
