All three of our scholarship sides took to the pitch on Wednesday afternoon in cup action.
Posh A
Posh A took on a higher league opposition in Cambridge United in their cup clash on Wednesday morning. Cambridge are comfortably holding their own in the South Premier Division, whilst Posh A are third in the league below.
Cambridge drew first blood in the game, hitting a great strike into the top corner from 25 yards.
But the Posh got a foothold in the game and equalised through captain Harry Robinson, who linked up well with Joey Buckingham before finding the bottom corner of the Cambridge net.
Both sides traded chances throughout the game, but the Posh defence held firm and Cristian Vieru was only called into action by shots from distance, all of which were comfortable to deal with for the Posh keeper.
And the same could be said for the remainder of the game, Robinson went close with a further two efforts, whilst the Posh defence continued to remain strong in front of Vieru.
With the scores at 1-1 after 90 minutes, the game headed into extra time, and it was Cambridge who struck first in the extra period. Another fine strike into the top corner proved too much for Vieru to deal with and the U’s hit the front once again.
2-1 down in extra time, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was game over. But on this occasion, you’d be wrong…
When Tinashe Mutizwa was felled in the box, Buckingham stepped up and coolly slotted the penalty home to send the game to penalties.

POSH B
It was a day forget for Posh B who exited the cup at the hands of another Cambridge United team.
They got off to a good start, with Glendenning putting Posh B ahead after just seven minutes. But by the 32nd minute, they found themselves 3-1 down as the visitors began to grow in momentum and take a hold of the game.
And the second half was a non-event from a Posh perspective, six goals in 45 minutes saw the U’s secure a comfortable passage into the next round of the cup at the expense of Posh B.
Up next for Posh B is a trip to Charlton Athletic in the CEFA South East Division 3.

POSH GIRLS
The Posh Girls took on Burton Albion in the group stage of their own cup competition on Wednesday afternoon.
It took just four minutes for Sasha Tristram to put the Posh ahead, a lead they held onto until half time.
And the second half turned out to be much more profitable for the Posh, with Tristram doubling the Posh advantage ten minutes into the half.
Piper O’Neill notched her first goal since her return from injury to make it 3-0 with 23 minutes to play, before Tristram sealed her hat-trick from the penalty spot to comfortably secure three points for the Posh Girls in the group.
Up next for the Posh is a home game against Luton Town as they return to league action in the South Women’s Division.
