POSH A
Posh A travelled to Brentford to face the side who were level on points with them prior to kick off. The first half was a half of few chances for either side and it remained goalless for the duration of the opening 45 minutes. Brentford hit the front in the first minute of the second half with a goal from a corner, but it took Posh A just two minutes to draw level. Harry Robinson was felled in the box and picked himself up to score the resulting penalty. And Posh took the lead with 55 minutes played through Alfie Webb, who controlled a Sol Snelling long throw and slid the ball into the back of the net. A mistake in the box gave Brentford a penalty of their own with 15 minutes left, a chance they took, to set up a grandstand finish. And it was Posh A who dramatically claimed all three points with just one minute left. Webb collected a long ball from goalkeeper Tom England and coolly lobbed the onrushing goalkeeper from the edge of the box.
Final Score: Brentford 2-3 Posh ‘A’
POSH B
It was a difficult afternoon for the Posh B side as they exited the cup at the hands of Aston Villa. Posh had the best chance of the early exchanges after Leo Alves beat three defenders before dragging his shot wide of the upright. Villa went into the interval with the lead through a penalty. Villa doubled their lead early in the second half through a cool finish after finding themselves one on one with Elliot Gale. It went from bad to worse just moments later when a simple pass across goal was tapped into the Posh net to put Villa up by three. Filip Kulinowski and Taffy Lubinda went close for the Posh, but the first effort was blocked and the second went over the bar. Gale then produced two more good stops for the Posh, before a defensive mix up gifted Villa their fourth of the afternoon. Alves scored a consolation for the Posh with the last kick of the game.
Final Score: Posh ‘B’ 1-4 Aston Villa ‘C’

Ben Muchina got Posh C on the board just three minutes into the second half as the home defence was caught napping. Muchina took control of the ball and calmly slotted it into the back of the net. He scored again from the penalty spot to put the Posh within two with 25 minutes to play. Posh continued to push as the second half continued, but the hosts put the game out of sight with five minutes to play in the game.
